RAVE REVIEWS FANI XENOPHONTOS FASHION SHOW 2011

The glamorous fashion show staged on April 4th, 2011 at the grounds of the Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia marked yet another milestone for Fani Xenophontos, who returned to her homeland Cyprus following her recent success in Milan. Hosted under the auspices of the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Elsi Christofia, the exclusive show was attended by distinguished guests from the realms of politics, business, culture and media and received international media coverage.

The event was presented by Mercedes-Benz, a patron of Fani’s work over the past four years. Its many sponsors included important international and local firms and brands, such as Marcuard Heritage Group, Perrier, Cyprus Airways, the Cyprus Tourism Organization, Mediterranean Hotel, Blow, Beautyline, G4S and Eurofem, as well as media sponsors like ANT1, MUST Magazine and Niche Outdoor Media.

The show proudly supported the charity Organisation “Make a Wish”, for children suffering from cancer.

Staged in a magical setting designed by Milan-based interior-design firm Tecnologie & Spazio, the show was based on a concept by Laura Salsi, fashion editor and journalist for ELLE ITALIA, who was also in charge of styling. The collections for Spring-Summer and Winter 2011, as well as the brand new Platinum collection, showcased the designer’s talent in a festive ambience followed by a glamorous after-show party.

The Spring-Summer 2011 collection, recently presented at the celebrated Spiga 2 store in Milan, dedicated by Dolce&Gabbana to new fashion talents, is romantic and feminine, yet joyful and strong, capturing attention at first sight. Mixing retro elements of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s with the novel outlook of our times, Fani’s Winter 2011 collection features garments that celebrate female power. Sophisticated and modern, the Platinum Collection launched at the show takes the designer’s  trademark style one step further, featuring unique pieces that praise the female body, accentuate silhouettes and grant zest and charm.

Following her recent success in Milan, Fani Xenophontos returns to Cyprus for a fashion show presenting her 2011 collections and launching her sophisticated Platinum Collection. On April 4th, 2011 at 8 p.m, the designer who exported Cypriot fashion abroad presents her new garments of desire in an exclusive event hosted at the Cyprus State Fair grounds in Nicosia. Organized under the auspices of the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Elsi Christofia, the show proudly supports “Make a Wish”, a charity organization helping children suffering from cancer.

Expected to attend are distinguished Cypriot guests, including the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Mr. Paschalides; Cypriot politicians and government officials; as well as opinion-makers from the entertainment industry, the business scene and the arts. Certain to attend is also the famous Italian singer L’Aura Abela – a fan of Fani’s couture, recently sporting her pieces on the cover of her latest EP Sei come me (Sony) as well as at the Sanremo Festival, where she was a guest of honour. The show will be covered by international fashion editors and journalists.

Presented by Mercedes-Benz, the show is sponsored by local and international companies and organisations, including Marcuard Heritage Group, Perrier, Cyprus Airways, the Cyprus Tourism Organization, Display Art, Mediterranean Hotel, G4S, Expo Cyprus, Maurice Lacroix, Olympic Residence, Blow Hair Saloon, Beautyline, Little Buddha Restaurant and Fashion Glamour, as well as media sponsors like ANT1, MUST Magazine and Niche Outdoor Media.

Romantic and feminine, yet joyful and strong, her 2011 collections capture attention at first sight. Not surprisingly, they were a major hit at the Spiga2, the multi-brand Milan boutique established by Dolce&Gabbana – praised by the likes of Ms Anna Wintour, the celebrated editor-in-chief of Vogue America. Taking Fani’s trademark style one step further, the Platinum Collection constitutes unique pieces that praise the female body, accentuate silhouettes and grant zest and charm.

A perfectionist by nature, Fani Xenophontos has put together an expert international team to assist her in the preparation of the fashion show. Ms Laura Salsi, fashion editor and journalist for ELLE ITALIA and an ardent supporter of Fani’s work from her first steps, is in charge of the show’s concept and styling. Ms Dina Karatza of Bussmart, a trusted long-time associate, has designed the advertising campaign and offers marketing and communications support, while Pierangelo Maio, Head of the Milan-based strategic and interior design firm Tecnologie & Spazio, shall provide interior design support and create a magic ambience for an unforgettable experience. Mike Orphanides, representative of Beautyline, will undertake the make-up of the models and Aggelos Pattas, the owner of BLOW Hair Studio will be responsible for the hair styling. The Fashion Show is organised by Eurofem Ltd, with expertise in professional event management and production services.

FANI XENOPHONTOS in Spiga2

Spiga2, the first multi-brand store from Dolce & Gabbana, is unveiled. Not only a store, but a meeting place where one can constantly get involved. The different cultures dissolve to create an innovative aesthetic language, where tradition looks to the future and fashion meets technology, and where one can live the hospitable and warm ambiances of yesteryear’s village shops. A space that wants to open up to the young generations and to become a place of conversation, where it is possible to surf the net, share contents and take part almost actively in the shop’s very own activities.

The store located in Via Spiga 2, Milan, is opening its doors as we speak and reveals something that will make people talk: together with Dolce & Gabbana men and women’s accessories, customers will find the collections of 30 contemporary designers coming from across the globe, chosen especially by Mr. Gabbana and Mr. Dolce.

The young designers’ collections, including the one of Fani Xenophontos Summer 2011, as well as all her future collections personally handpicked and bought by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, mix with the Dolce&Gabbana accessories collections. Moreover, Fani is their favourite designer for the Spring Summer 2011 season. It becomes an exclusive window for fashion’s new names, a very real opportunity to give more visibility to fashion’s future protagonists and to their creations. The selection is in constant transformation, and it just goes to show how much this space is certain to last and is going to be a feature of its time.

Fani Xenophontos Spring Summer 2011 Collection is sold in Spiga2 from Jan. 10, 2011.
